About The Owner
Isabella has always loved painting, her father is a Journeyperson Painter and her mother was an artist who won many awards and scholarships for her work. When Isabella was 18 she decided to follow in her family’s footsteps and began her career in the industrial coatings sector and quickly worked her way through ranks while breaking down gender stereotypes within the trade. As an apprentice Isabella competed in Skills Canada’s Painting and Decorating competition and won Gold, all the while helping her fellow competitors with their questions and their own projects. Isabella completed her schooling at NAIT and obtained the top of her class marks on her Red Seal Journeyperson exam making her a second generation Journeyperson within her family. At this point she decided to switch paths and explore her passion for Commercial / Residential painting. It was working for the University of Alberta that her love began for bringing old surfaces back to life. After this she switched to a supervisory role at a high end housing company doing painting, wallpapering, plastering, and faux finishes. Making a clients house into a home through representing their personality with artistic or high end wall finishes became Isabella’s passion. A few years ago Isabella’s grandmother took ill so she had to leave this job to take care of her before her eventual passing. After this she had to put her dreams and passions on the back burner to support her family so she went back to the coatings sector to manage a companies coatings department for two years and shortly after she decided to incorporate a company to begin her side business Primed and Proper Painting inc. Little did she know that she would end up working overtime for her first job and almost full time for Primed and Proper at the same time, this lead to her having to make a choice to focus on her business or to keep trying to balance both. In March of 2020 Isabella made the decision to return to the career she loved and leave her day job to work for herself full time. Nothing brings her greater joy in life than making someone’s house into a beautiful place that they can enjoy and be proud of every single day.
